Jessie Wallace was born Karen Jane Wallace on September 25, 1971 in Enfield in London.
She trained as a make-up artist and worked at the Royal Shakespeare Company for two years.
She met and became friends with actor Iain Glenn, who helped her apply for London drama college The Poor School, from where she graduated in 1999.
Jessie's first tv appearance was in 1999, in an episode of the police drama series called The Bill.
But then Jessie won her biggest role in 2000, of the part on Eastenders of Kat Slater, the daughter of Charlie and Viv Slater. She was cast alongside Michelle Ryan as her sister Zoe, Elaine Lordan as her sister Lynne, Kacey Ainsworth as her sister LIttle Mo (Maureen) and Leanne Lakey (who plays the wealthy sister Belinda. She is not a mainstay character in the soap though).
Jessie, after leaving Eastenders, made a guest appearance as Kat Slater, in the 2005 French and Saunders Christmas special.
On February 17, 2006, Jessie Wallace was the "guest host" of an edition of the Channel 4 programme The Friday Night Project.
Jessie has also starred in the tv drama's - A Class Apart opposite Nathaniel Parker, and in The Dinner Party with Lee Evans and Alison Steadman.
She also had the lead role in Miss Marie Lloyd - Queen Of The Music Hall opposite Stephen Fry's portrayal of Oscar Wilde along withRichard Armitage and Tom Payne.
Jessie made her West End Debut in, the role of "Maureen" in Rent remixed at the Duke of York's Theatre. She replaced Denise Van Outen.
Jessie is currently starring as Amy Kriel, in the third series of the animal drama Wild at Heart, alongside Hayley Mills, Stephen Tompkinson and Lucy-Jo Hudson. She is replacing the character of Sarah played by Amanda Holden.
Jessie has starred in a run of the show called Haunted at the Arts Theatre in London, and on the tv drama called Hope Springs playing the role of Ellie.
Jessie has also starred in her own fat burning weight loss workout called Jessie Wallace - Look At Me Now Workout.
