Bear Grylls
Bear Grylls was actually born Edward Michael Grylls but was given the name 'Bear' by his sister which stuck and has been used by him since. (Pure speculation but this could have come from Edward Bear, aka Paddington Bear.)
A former member of the SAS, Bear failed the selection process on his first attempt but successfully joined the elite regiment on his next. Was forced to leave the service after a serious accident which nearly crippled him - later went on to make a full recovery.
Was the youngest person to climb Everest.
