Richard Armitage

Richard Armitage
Richard Armitage was born in 22 August 1971 and raised in Leicester, England. He attended Pattison College in Binley Road, Coventry, and studied at LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art). After two guest-roles in "Cold Feet" and "Between the Sheets" he played his first leading role John Thornton in the big hit BBC drama "North & South" (2004).

In 2006 Richard won the role of Guy of Gisbourne in the new BBC series of "Robin Hood". His performance as the brooding conflicted bad guy stole the show and won him a wide range of fans. This then lead to him joining the cast of BBC spy series "Spooks" in the role of damaged and complex Lucas North gaining him much praise. He played the main role of former SAS soldier John Porter in Sky 1's action series "Strike Back" performing much of his stunts.

Recently Armitage has now begun working in Hollywood with a role in Marvel's blockbuster "Captain America: The First Avenger" and has been cast as Thorin Oakenshield for the upcoming Peter Jackson production of "The Hobbit".
