Paz Vega

Paz Vega was born in 1976 in Seville, Spain.

She started her career on television, appearing in a number of sitcoms before her career took off in 1999 with the hit series 7 Vidas (7 Lives), a Friends-style comedy that also starred Javier Camara (Talk To Her), Blanca Portillo (Volver) and Toni Canto (All About My Mother).

Her cinematic career went stratospheric with her performance as Lucia in Sex And Lucia (dir. Julio Medem), which won her a Goya award. Although that film is more serious Vega is known for her comedic timing, which can be seen in films such as The Other Side Of The Bed (dir. Emilio Martinez-Lazaro) –a massive hit in Spain- and Di Que Si (dir. Juan Calvo). She has said that two dreams have come true for her in the course of her career –the first was to work with Pedro Almodóvar (she plays the woman in the silent film within the film in Talk To Her), and the second was to play the title role in Carmen (dir. Vicente Aranda).

She has now started a career in the US –her first role was in Spanglish (dir. James L Brooks) and more recently she has starred alongside Morgan Freeman in 10 Items Or Less (dir. Brad Silberling).
