Angelina Jolie
Born 4 June 1975, in Los Angeles, California – Angelina Jolie Voight has been long estranged from actor dad Jon Voight (apart from a brief reconciliation coinciding with Tomb Raider, in which they both starred), and a private life as dramatic as some of her on-screen characters.
An early, punky performance in Hackers yielded half-decent critical notices and hubbie #1 in the form of Jonny Lee Miller. They’d already split as Jolie’s star rose via the lead in TV movie Gia, detective thrills in The Bone Collector, and flashy comedy drama Pushing Tin, where she met second spouse Billy Bob Thornton.
Shortly before a wedding in which the happy couple wore vials of each other’s blood around their necks, Jolie had won an Academy Award for Girl, Interrupted, and was set for status as voluptuous superstar and owner of the most famous, fulsome lips in Hollywood.
She amply embodied computer-game fave Lara Croft - Tomb Raider twice, and between the two movies, Jolie became a UN Goodwill Ambassador, divorced Billy Bob, and played in Oliver Stone’s epic historical excess Alexander. All on her way to the big $20m paycheck.
That was for Mr And Mrs Smith, opposite Brad Pitt, with whom she would hook-up (precise timing incertain) – somewhat controversially, given Pitt’s then-marriage to Jennifer Aniston. Jolie and Pitt are currently raising their children (three adopted; three natural), and although more enamoured with family and humanitarian work than filming these days, can next be seen on screen in Robert De Niro’s CIA thriller The Good Shepherd.
