Melina Eleni Kanakaredes was born on the 23rd April 1967 Akron in Ohio to a Greek American family.
Melina graduated from Point Park College in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in theatre arts.
Melina's first major role was in the daytime soap drama called Guiding Light. She played the part of Eleni Andros Spaulding Cooper.
Her appearances in film include The Long Kiss Goodnight as Trin and 15 Minutes as Nicolette Karas, the girlfriend of Robert De Niro's character.
Other television roles include: NYPD Blue (in a recurring role as reporter Benita Alden), Northern Exposure, Due South, Oz, The Practice, a cameo role in The Ben Stiller Show, and in an adaptation of Saint Maybe.
Her first most notable role was in the tv show called Providence, playing the lead part of Dr. Sydney Hansen. who wished to leave her glamorous job in Beverly Hills as a plastic surgeon for the rich, so she could return to her hometown of Providence, Rhode Island, and be with her family. She starred alongside Paula Cale, Seth Peterson, Mike Farrell and Concetta Tomei.
But Melina is most known as detective Stella Bonasera, a forensic investigator in CSI: NY - CSI - New York - Season 1 - Part 1, CSI - New York - Season 1 - Part 2, CSI - New York - Season 2 - Part 1, CSI - New York - Season 2 - Part 2, CSI - New York - Season 3 - Part 1, CSI - New York - Season 3 - Part 2, CSI - New York - Season 4 - Part 1, CSI - New York - Season 4 - Part 2, CSI - New York - Season 5 - Part 1 and CSI - New York - Season 5 - Part 2 opposite Gary Sinise, Anna Belknap, Robert Joy, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper and Eddie Cahill.
