Billy Murray
Billy Murray was born in October 1941, in East London. A well known British actor, Billy Murray is best known for playing the corrupt DS Don Beech in the popular TV Series 'The Bill', from 1995 - 2000. He was a close friend of the legendary Kray Twins and it is rumoured that it was the Kray Twins, Ronald & Reginald Kray, paid for his acting tuition at East 15 Acting School, which cost around £500,00 in the early 1960's because they "liked his attitude".
Murray made his acting debut in 1963 with a small role in the film 'Two Left Feet'. Murray also had roles in the films Poor Cow (1967), Corruption (1967), Up The Junction (1968) & Performance with although was made in 1968, was not released until 1971.
Through three decades Murray played roles in a large amount of British prgrammes which included The Sweeney, The Professionals, Minder, Bergerac & Casualty. In 1980 Murray had the role as 'Joey' and co-starred with Roger Daltrey in the British film, McVicar. In 2000 Murray played a small role as drug dealer Perry Elley in Essex Boys whcih co-starred Sean Bean.
In 1995 Murray took the role as the corrupt DS Don Beech in ITV's The Bill. His role as Beech ended in 2000, which resulted in the spin off series Beech is Back & Beech on the Run'. For only five episodes Murray re-appeared as Beech in The Bill in 2005. Since then he is yet to return to the popular ITV series.
In 2004 Murray took the role as gangster Johnny Allen in the popular BBC Soap Eastenders. Murray left the series when his character died in 2006.
Since then, Murray has starred in Hell To Pay with Dave Courtney & Terry Stone, Rollin with the Nines & Rise of the Footsoldier. Murray has one child, his daughter Jaime Murray who, also an actress, has starred in the TV Series Hustle & the 2008 film Botched.
