Jared Harris

Jared Harris
Jared Harris is actually part of a little known dynasty. Son of Richard Harris, (A man called Horse or rather the original Dumbledore) and Elizabeth Harris (Elizabeth Rees).
He has two brothers, Damian Harris (director, born in 1958) and Jamie Harris (actor, born in 1965). Jared is the middle son, born Jared Francis Harris on 24th of August, 1961 in London, England.
He was educated in the UK until studying for a BFA at Duke University, North Carolina where he wrote and directed the film “Darkmoor”.
Graduating in 1984, he then returned to the UK, joining the Royal Shakespeare Company performing “Hamlet”, “Romeo & Juliet”, “Silent Woman” and “A Clockwork Orange”.
His screen debut in 1989 was in “The Rachel Papers”, directed by his brother, Damian Harris.
1990, while vacationing in New York, he auditioned at the celebrated New York Shakespeare Festival getting the role of "Hotspur" in "Henry IV part 1.”
He has portrayed pop icons Andy Warhol and John Lennon on film.
On television his portrayal in Mad Men of the chief financial officer, Lane Pryce is a magnificent characterisation.
Jared has starred in big budget films such as Lost in Space (1998) (playing an older Will Robinson) and Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004).
In 2005 he married Emilia Fox, divorcing in 2010.
2011 sees him playing Professor James Moriarty, arch-nemesis of Sherlock Holmes. He takes on the role as an unassuming egotistical megalomaniac who falls foul of the great sleuth.
