Emily Erin Deschanel was born on the 11th October 11 1976 in Los Angeles in California.
She is of Irish and French ancestry (her surname means "from the channels" in French).
Emily graduated from Boston University's Professional Actors Training Program with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre.
Emily has had several guest starring roles in tv shows such as Crossing Jordan and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
She has also had roles in the films: It Could Happen to You as a Paint Throwing Fur-Activist and in the film called It's a Shame About Ray as Maggie.
Emily appeared in Spider-Man 2 in the small part of a receptionist, in the film called Easy as Laura and in the film called Old Tricks.
She has had roles in Cold Mountain as Mrs Morgan alongside Jude Law, Nicole Kidman and Renee Zellweger, The Alamo as Rosanna Travis opposite Dennis Quaid as Gen. Sam Houston, Billy Bob Thornton as David Crockett and Jason Patric as Col. James Bowie and in Boogeyman as Kate the childhood friend of Tim Jensen (played by Barry Watson).
Emily also had a role in the film called Glory Road as Mary Haskins the widow of the late Coach Don Haskins and a part in the short film called That Night as Annie.
Emily has also starred in the tv series The Heart Department and the mini series called Rose Red also known as Stephen King's Rose Red. Emily plays the part of Pam Asbury who has the power of Psychometry.
But perhaps Emily Deschanel's most notable role is that of playing forensic anthropologist Dr. Temperance Brennan. She works at the Jeffersonian Institution in Washington D. C. and is paired with Special FBI Agent Seeley Booth to work on cases which require both their expertise, in the hit drama series of Bones - Season 1, Bones - Season 2, Bones - Season 3, Bones - Season 4 and Bones - Season 5 alongside David Boreanaz, Michaela Conlin, Eric Millegan, T.J. Thyne, John Francis Daley and Tamara Taylor.
Seeley nicknames Temperance "Bones", referring to her job as a forensic anthropologist.
Emily Deschanel is a vegan, and a supporter of animal rights causes. She is also a member of PETA.
She has also starred in My Sister's Keeper as Dr. Farquad with Cameron Diaz, Alec Baldwin, Abigail Breslin, Sofia Vassilieva, Jason Patric and Evan Ellingson.
