Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt
William Bradley Pitt - born 18 Dec 1963, in Shawnee, Oklahoma - raised in Springfield, Missouri and lifetime winner of Sexiest Man In This Galaxy Or Any Other. Or something like that. Studied Journalism at Uni, and – while a jobbing actor – dressed as a giant chicken and drove strippers in a limo (not at the same time), before a small role in Dallas and the Thelma And Louise fab-abs breakthrough occurred. He has always been a far better actor than his matinee looks would have you believe, and a superstar with a social conscience. He is currently part-funding the rebuilding of housing in New Orleans after the recent floods there.

Now best chums with George Clooney, and apparently living the superstar dream, Pitt is constant tabloid and celeb-sheet fodder for his off-screen drama (engaged to Gwyneth Paltrow, married and divorced Jennifer Aniston, has natural and adopted children with Angelina Jolie). But to his credit, he’s followed sometime mentor Robert Redford’s lead in avoiding out-and-out pretty-boy roles for more interesting (and not always successful) projects.

Periodically whoops it up with his mates in the Ocean's Eleven franchise, gets punchy (Fight Club, Snatch, Troy), shootey (The Mexican, Mr And Mrs Smith, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), and mesmerically entertaining (Meet Joe Black, Seven, Snatch, Spy Game), this guy’s proper A-list. Beefed up impressively to play Achilles in Troy, but that couldn’t prevent him suffering an injury during filming: he tore his Achilles tendon. And that, friends, is the very definition of irony...

Wise words: "I'm one of those people you hate because of genetics. It's the truth."
