Michael Caine

Michael Caine
Born 14 Mar 1933, in Rotherhithe, London

Maurice Joseph Micklewhite, Jr. aka Michael Caine shot to fame in the late sixties as British Army officer Gonville Bromhead VC in the 1964 film Zulu. Notorious for his "cockney geeza" persona, Caine went on to star in a plathora of successful films such as The Italian Job, Alfie and Get Carter.

His career has continued to stay strong through the decades, with leading roles in films such as Educating Rita, Hannah And Her Sisters and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, winning numerous awards along the way.

As the noughties draw to a close Caine is still keeping audiences guessing about what will come next, after a string of intriguing and high profile parts in films. Present day audineces will know him best as Christian Bale's side-kick, butler Alfred in the Batman films and most recently as an elderly ex-serviceman hell bent on revenge for his best friend's murder, in Harry Brown.

"The difference between a movie star and a movie actor is this: a movie star will say, 'How can I change the script to suit me?' and a movie actor will say, 'How can I change me to suit the script?'"
