Susan Sarandon
Best-known for co-starring in Oscar-nominated Thelma & Louise, Sarandon got into acting almost by accident when her actor then-husband Chris Sarandon was passed over in favour of her for a role in Joe.
Since having two children by her partner Tim Robbins, Sarandon has taken particularly challenging roles and has been well-rewarded with numerous nominations and awards - including an Oscar for best-actress in Dead Man Walking.
