Cary Grant

Born Archibald Leach on the 18th January 1904 in Bristol England. After moving to the USA in 1920 he had some success on Broadway. In 1931 he moved to Hollywood and took the stage name of Cary Grant.
His first blockbuster movie came in 1933. I'm No Angel found him starring alongside Mae WEst. This movie brought Paramount Pictures back from the brink of bankruptcy.
Grant would go on to star in over 60 movies, most of these being comedies starring the favoured leading lady of the day.He became one of director Alfred Hitchcock's favourite leading men, starring in many of his films, such as Suspicion (1941), To Catch A Thief (1955) and North by NorthwEst (1959).
Grant was married five times and fathered one daughter. He died on the 29th Noverember 1986.
A genuine movie star, Grant had a class and style that has been many times copied, but never bettered.
