He was born in Málaga, Andalucia, southern Spain. He has one brother called Francisco. His parents were called Ana Bandera (his mother), who was a school teacher, and José Domínguez (his father), who was a policeman. His family was roman catholic, however he no longer follows this religion. When he was younger, his dream was to play football, but all this changed at the age of 14 when he broke his foot.
Personal:
He divorced his first wife Ana Leza. This was when he married Melanie Griffith, they met a year earlier when they shot Two Much. They have a daughter called Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith, who was born in 1996, and appeared in the film Crazy In Alabama (1999), in which Griffith starred and which her father directed.
