Bud Spencer

Bud Spencer was born Carlo Pedersoli in 1929 in Naples, Italy. He was a successful swimmer in his youth and represented Italy in both the 1952 and 1956 Olympic Games where he twice reached the Semi-Final in the 100metre freestyle. His swimming career ended in 1957 by which time his movie career was beginning to flourish in his native Italy.
He appeared in many movies during the 1950's but only became mainstream once he had teamed up with Terrence Hill, a fellow Italian actor born Mario Girotti and starred in two notable early Spaghetti westerns, I quottro dell Ave Maria and They call me trinity. During their careers they appeared in 19 movies together and became internationally known for the double act in films such as Boot Hill, Double Trouble, Aces High, Crimebusters and Miami Supercops.
Spencer's career slowed down after 1983 and he concentrated on his love of flying owning an ait transportation company called Mistral air. He entered politics in Italy in 2005 standing as a regional councillor in Lazio for Silvio Berlusconis centre right party.
