Elizabeth Taylor
Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born in Hampstead, England on 27 February 1932 to American parents. She began her acting career in the early 1940s after her family relocated to Los Angeles.
After becoming child star at age twelve following her lead role in National Velvet, Taylor starred in dozens of well-reviewed films from the 1940s through the 1960s. Her most famous films include Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Cleopatra, and Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf?.
Taylor was nominated for an Oscar five times, winning the award twice once in 1961 for Butterfield 8 and again in 1967 for Whos Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. In 1993, she was awarded the Academys Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.
The actress was equally known for her tumultuous private life. Married eight times to seven men famously wedding Richard Burton twice she divorced her final husband in 1996 and remained single until her death.
In her later years, Taylor suffered from multiple health problems, including congestive heart failure. She passed away in Los Angeles, CA on 23 March 2011 at the age of 79.
