Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick
Born on July 26, 1928, in New York City, Stanley Kubrick was one of film's most artistically powerful writer/directors in having done: 2001 - A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and several other recognized film classics.

Stanley Kubrick died on March 7, 1999, while he was married to his third wife, Christiane Harlan. During Stanley's life he released 13 blockbuster films. He was working on two films at the time of his death, "One-Eyed Jack" and "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" however A.I. was later completed by Steven Spielberg.

Kubrick was an influential American and British film-maker, screenwriter, producer and photographer.
His films are characterized by a formal visual style and meticulous attention to detail - often combining elements of surrealism and expressionism with and ironic pessimis.
In 1962 Kubrick moved to the UK to shoot 'Lolita' and he would live there for the rest of his life. His motivation to realize 'Lolita' was to make it in a country with laxer censorship laws. Afterwards he filmed 'Doctor Strangelove' and the film '2001: A Space Odyssey' that is, it was required the large capacity of the sound stages of Shepperton Studios which were not available in America, Kubrick decided to settle in Britain permanently.
