M. Night Shyamalan
Born Manoj Nelliyattu Shyamalan on 6th August 1970 in Mahé, Pondicherry, India and raised in the suburban Penn Valley area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. . Night Shyamalan is the son of two doctors and his passion for film-making began at the age of 8 when he was given his first Super-8 camera. His idol is said to be Steven Spielberg.
His very first film was Praying with Anger in 1992 and it was based on a trip he had taken to his country of birth, India. His second movie Wide Awake in 1998 he wrote and directed himself and it was shot in a Philadelphia Catholic school he attended at an earlier age even though his family was a different religion, they sent him there due to the schools strict discipline.
He is married to Bhavna Vaswani since 1993 whom he has had 2 children with.
According to IMDB.com he frequently uses Philadelphia as the backdrop in his movies as seen in Wide Awake (1998), The Sixth Sense (1999), Unbreakable (2000), Signs (2002) and The Village (2004).
He is well know to have some sort of twist at the end of his films, and also having some sort of shot of peoples reflection in various objects.
He has made cameo appearances in all his movies. His movies also tend to have some sort of religiously themed events.
