David Carradine

David Carradine
David Carradine died tragically, on Thursday 4 June at the age of 72.

The Kill Bill star was found in his Bankok hotel room with a cord secured around his neck and other parts of his body. It is suggested that his death was the result of an accident however, coroners are yet to confirm the cause of death.

Born 8 December 1936, David Caradine will be fondly remembered for his contribution to the acting community. Carradine’s life changed when he landed the lead role as Kwai Chang Caine in the 1970s television series Kung Fu. A show which he later revisited to play Caine's grandson in Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

In 1972 Carradine famously teamed up with heavy-weight director Martin Scorsese to play "Big" Bill Shelley in Boxcar Bertha, before going onto play folksinger Woody Guthrie in the biopic Bound For Glory and Abel Rosenberg in The Serpent’s Egg. During the 1980s Carradine shied away from the limelight to work on low budget movies, but in 2003 he returned to the big screen with a bang as Bill in Quentin Tarantino’s two part film, Kill Bill and Kill Bill 2, opposite Uma Thurman.

Carradine told the BBC that his penchant for talking helped Tarantino with the script: "We'd smoke a cigar in the evening and talk and talk and talk, and a week later there's a rewrite and it has that conversation in it. I talk endlessly," he said.

He added, "Basically I'm doing the Samuel L Jackson part in this movie. I'm just talking my head off, in between killing people."
