Robert Daws

Robert Daws (born 1 May 1959) is an English actor noted for his numerous appearances in British television dramas.

He played the hapless food-loving Tuppy Glossup alongside Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in the television adaptation of Jeeves and Wooster (1990-1993), and he is particularly well remembered for his portrayal of the overly self-important cricket captain Roger Dervish in the ITV comedy drama Outside Edge (1994-1996). In 1997 he starred in the one off BBC drama, The Missing Postman and the following year he starred as sam, the co-owner of a cab firm, in the pilot of what would become Roger Roger, which ran until 2003. More recently Daws has inhabited the screen as Dr.Gordon Ormerod in the 1960s hospital drama The Royal, which was suspended in 2009 but is due to return sometime in 2010.

He played King John's herald (Hubert de Guiscarde) in two episodes of Robin of Sherwood( "The Greatest Enemy" and "The Sheriff of Nottingham"). In November and December 2009 he appeared in Public Property by Sam Peter Jackson at the Trafalgar Studios.

Daws also plays the trumpet which he can be seen to play over the credits of the final episode of A bit of Fry and Laurie.

Robert's first wife was Amanda Waring (1993–2002), but he has been married to his co-star Amy Robbins since 2003. He has two daughters, Betsy and May with Amy Robbins and a son from his first marriage. They live in Ampthill, Bedfordshire, where Robert compered the town's first Proms in June 2009.
