Helen Shaver
Helen Shaver was born on the 24th February 1951 in St. Thomas in Ontario in Canada. In 1978 she won a Canadian Film Award for her role as "Ann MacDonald" in the film In Praise of Older Women.
In 1985, she appeared in the film Desert Hearts as Vivian Bell with Audra Lindley and Patricia Charbonneau as a 1950s university professor, who falls in love with another woman, for which she won the Bronze Leopard Award at the Locarno International Film Festival.
In 1986, Helen starred alongside Paul Newman, as his love interest Janelle in The Color of Money which also stars Tom Cruise and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio.
Helen has starred in the films called The Craft with Fairuza Balk, Robin Tunney and Neve Campbell, The Park Is Mine opposite Tommy Lee Jones and Harry Tracy with Bruce Dern and Michael Gwynne.
Other roles include The Osterman Weekend as Virginia Tremayne alongside John Hurt, Rutger Hauer and Dennis Hopper and in Best Defense as Clair Lewis opposite Dudley Moore, Eddie Murphy and Kate Capshaw.
She has also appeared in The Edison Twins in the episodes called Gems And Jelly Beans, The Case Of The Friendly Fugitive and The Maharajah Of Weston as Phyllis Dayton along with Andrew Sabiston, Marnie McPhail, Sunny Besen Thrasher and Elva Mai Hoover.
She has also appeared in The Believers as Jessica Halliday with Martin Sheen, Robert Loggia and Jimmy Smits, Murder So Sweet opposite Harry Hamlin and in The Keeper again alongside Dennis Hopper and Asia Argento.
Helen has been in Sniper - 23 Days Of Fear In Washington D.C. along with Charles S. Dutton, Jay O. Sanders, Bobby Hosea and Trent Cameron, The Land Before Time as Lightfoot's mother opposite Gabriel Damon, Candace Hutson, Judith Barsi, Will Ryan and Pat Hingle and The Sweetest Gift as Mrs Martin with Diahann Carroll.
Another role was as Carolyn in The Amityville Horror with Margot Kidder, James Brolin and Rod Steiger and in Many Happy Returns as Sally Robinson alongside George Segal.
Other roles were in High Ballin as Pickup with Peter Fonda, Starship Invasions as Betty Duncan alongside Robert Vaughn and Christopher Lee and in Numb as Audrey with Matthew Perry, Lynn Collins and Kevin Pollak.
Other tv roles include playing the part of a murderer in Columbo: Rest In Peace, Mrs. Columbo, and also starring in T. J. Hooker with William Shatner and Heather Locklear, Hill Street Blues, and in the title role of the short lived series Jessica Novak with Lara Parker and Kip Gilman.
In 2000, she won a Genie Award for her portrayal of a drug-addicted prostitute, in the independent feature We All Fall Down as Sherry opposite Martin Cummins and Darcy Belsher.
In 2003, Helen won a Gemini award for best direction in a dramatic tv series for the drama called Just Cause.
Helen Shaver is also a director, and has worked on The Outer Limits, Judging Amy, Joan of Arcadia, Medium, The OC, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, The L Word and Jericho.
She has also worked on The Unit with Robert Patrick, Scott Foley, Dennis Haysbert, Audrey Marie Anderson and Regina Taylor - this series is listed on lovefilm as Unit, The - Season 1 and Unit, The - Season 3 for anyone interested in watching it.
She has also been in Journeyman with Reed Diamond, Moon Bloodgood, Brian Howe and Kevin McKidd.
She made her feature-length directorial debut in 1999 with Summer's End. This film won an Emmy.
Helen starred in Tremors 2 - Aftershocks as Kate "White" Reilly alongside Fred Ward and Christopher Gartin.
She has also starred as Dr. Rachel Corrigan, in Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 1, Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 2, Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 3 and Poltergeist The Legacy - Season 4 with Derek de Lint, Martin Cummins and Robbi Chong. She stars as a psychiatrist who is helped by the Legacy in the pilot episode. Impressed by her skills and strength of character, Derek the leader of The Legacy, invites Rachel to join his team.
Further tv director roles were in th shows Private Practice and Crusoe.
Another role was in A Very Merry Daughter Of The Bride as Rose opposite Joanna Garcia, Luke Perry and Jason Priestley.
