John Mitchum

aka jack mitchum, aka john mallory.

born 6 september, 1919, in bridgeport, connnecticut; died 29 november, 2001, in los angeles, california. younger brother of the actor robert mitchum and the dancer/singer annette (julie) mitchum.

first appeared in 'the prairie' (1947). went on to play supporting roles in many movies and tv series, especially westerns. appeared alongside humphry bogart, john wayne, william conrad, his brother robert, and many others. most notable role was that of Clint Eastwood's partner frank di georgio in the 'Dirty Harry' movies.

also a singer and poet. co-wrote john wayne's album, 'america, why i love her'.
