Since his debut with Pepi, Luci, Bom and other girls pile up his latest success with Talk To Her, Almodovar has been shaping an international reputation with his unique style that has been recognized even with a pair of Oscars.

Interested in the seventh art from small, Pedro Almodovar was launched to achieve his dream of making films at age 16, when he moved to Madrid with the intention of studying and carve out a career. For years he worked at various jobs and saved enough money to buy a house super eight: it began with his first short film, which he served as director of learning.

In those days, Almodovar alternated his beginnings in film with other artistic activities: writer (comic scripts, collaborations in underground newspapers and magazines, novels), theatrical actor (he was part of the group The Goliardos, where he met Carmen Maura), musician (created a group of punk-glam-rock alongside McNamara) ...

Pedro even wrote to order for a photo magazine
The Viper, which would later serve as the basis for his first feature film: Pepi, Luci, Bom and other girls of the pile (1980). Despite the lack of means with which it rolled, the innovative style of the film caused a sensation and turned the film into cult film.

Two years later came Labyrinth of Passion, which was very well received by the public and it became a landmark of Spanish cinema. With his third film, Matador, Almodovar began to make himself known abroad. But it was the comedy Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown (1987) which gave him the ultimate fame: in addition to beat box office records, received several national and international awards and was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign film.

The director of La Mancha became one of the figures in Spanish cinema, and his later works were well received by the public, as demonstrated by the good results of Atam Heels or distant.

While the big moment Almodovar was to come. In 1999, All About My Mother reached an unprecedented success, was made with lots of prizes and won the Oscar for best foreign language film. Something similar happened in 2002 with Talk To Her, who also managed several international awards and earned him another Oscar to the filmmaker, this time for Best Original Screenplay and a nomination for best director.
