An excellent t.v. mini-series based on Elspeth Huxley's much-loved memoir of her upbringing in East Africa, where her family hewed a farm from the rugged land in 1913. Growing up amidst the same pastoral loveliness that so inspired Danish novelist Isak Dinesen, the little girl and her family struggle with savage animals, wild natural forces, and a murder.
