Love Hina - Vol. 1

This was the first anime series I really got in to. I had seen a few series before Love Hina but none really stood out for me. LH has a great balance of humor and drama (if you want to call it that), and you come to feel a close attachment to the characters and the relationships in the series.

Paniponi Dash - Vol. 1

This has to be one of the funniest anime series ever created. It's soul purpose is to parody every other type of anime and it goes a great job of doing so. There is also a very thin story running through the series but you probably won't even notice it, and it won't matter for you to enjoy it.
