If....

Fabulous film - although it doesn't have much of a plot. It depends solely on the acting, which is top notch.

A Clockwork Orange

My all-time favourite film! I first saw this when I was 13, and it changed my views on cinema forever. The violence/rape scene are hard to watch, but look past what you read about this film in the media and take it for what it is: an amazing example of film. I find everything about it amazing, from the cinematography to the music to the acting. It's pretty psychedelic, so not one to watch if you're looking for something easygoing.

O Lucky Man!

Love this almost as much as If... It's pretty long, and i've never watched it in one sitting before. The plot is all over the place, and it seems like you're getting at least three films for the price of one. It's unbelievable for a lot of the time, but that's the surreal beauty of it.

Gangster No. 1

One of Malcolm's best manacing performances since A Clockwork Orange. It's very violent though, so be warned.

Having never even seen an episode of Star Trek, and definately NOT being a fan of sci-fi, I strangely enjoyed this. William Shatner is appauling though.

Caligula

Oh, you've got to laugh at this because it's such a farce. And I've only seen the edited version, and looking forward to the uncut version being released in the UK soon. It's worth watching for Malcolm poncing about in a hilarious toga. Not worth watching for it's cinematic value though, in all honesty. Just take it for a daft romp. Oh, and sorry if you're watching this to be turned on. You won't be.
  • Caligula on DVD (1979)
Starring: Malcolm McDowell,  Helen Mirren,  Peter O'Toole
    Director: Tinto Brass

A reputedly faithful cinematic depiction of the historical events of Caligula's Rome, including the decadence and debauchery that marked his reign. This notorious release has faced rather hysterical hostility from would-be censors. Financed by Penthouse Magazine magnate Bob Guccione, who was ..read more »

I LOVE THIS!! It's quirky and has it's funny moments - such as when HG Wells finds himself in McDonalds for the first time. Mary Steenburgen is adorable too.
