Batman

5 STARS- my favourite comic book/superhero adaptation of all time, the cast is strong and Jack Nicholson steals the show as the Joker, great soundtrack from Prince.
  • Batman on DVD (1989)
Starring: Michael Keaton, Jack Nicholson, Kim Basinger
    Director: Tim Burton
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
Tim Burton's BATMAN, inspired by Frank Miller's graphic novel THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, is a Gothic, Wagnerian treatment of the Batman mythos that explains the origins of Batman (Michael Keaton) and his nemesis, the maniacal Joker (a ripe Jack Nicholson).Gotham City is a sunless, ominous haven for ..

Superman II

5 STARS- one of the best superhero films ever made, it takes place just after the original ends and introduces not 1 but 3 new baddies with terrance stamp as General Zod, their leader. This film has so many great performances and where as the first film had to set up the story of Superman this is just a rollercoaster all the way, special effects are a little dated now but it doesn't detract from a great film.

Superman

5 STARS- Christopher Reeve IS superman and the first of his Superman films is excellent, and it shows that it doesn't matter how much cgi is put in a film, it still can't top a strong story told well.
  • Superman on DVD (1978)
Starring: Christopher Reeve,  Gene Hackman,  Marlon Brando
    Director: Richard Donner

In Richard Donner's blockbuster, the Superman myth is well told, from his birth on the doomed planet Krypton to his childhood in a small Kansas town and beyond. Transformers

5 STARS- I've read some bad reports for this film but i've got to say i loved it, there's no real depth but who needs it, it's true popcorn, blockbusting movie going, no time to take a breather and the actual Transformers, which are the real stars, are amazing. Leave your brain aside when you watch and just enjoy.

The Dark Knight

4 & HALF STARS- Christopher Nolan has rescued and reinvented the Batman series and his second installment is even better than his first. Ledger's performance as Joker is outstanding, with Bale continuing to be the best onscreen Batman, all the cast give strong performances and the result is a dark, brooding, visually stunning film.

Iron Man

4 & HALF STARS- I'd heard lots of good things about this movie as the first produced by Marvel and i wasn't disapointed, it looks great, with Robert Downey Junior, the acting is of a high standard and there is lots of intelligent fun to be had, can't wait for Iron Man 2.

Batman Returns

4 & HALF STARS- this film is a great follow up to the original Batman with Keaton(Batman), Pheiffer( Cat woman), and De Vito( Penguin) putting in some great performances.

The Incredible Hulk

4 & HALF STARS- best Incredible Hulk film there is, cgi is much better than the previous Hulk film and it seems to get the blend between action and storytelling just right.

Spider-Man 3

4 STARS- Great addition to the Spiderman series, Sandman is a great villian, but the black enterty that creates the black spider suit is superb.

Transformers 2 - Revenge of the Fallen

4 STARS- The plot is rubbish and so are some of the new characters but the Transformers are still as stunning as ever.
