Dark Water

The director here somehow thought angst and gloom could improve creepyness and shock and decided to replace the horror with personal tragedy. The point wasn't so much missed as actively avoided.

Halloween

A lesson learnt that promising directors don't always come good. The original here is butchered (pun intented) to produce a very amateurish flick. It's not even close - don't go there.

The Amityville Horror

Although loyal to the original the poor editing and ham acting make this a very dull film. Somehow the horror of the first seemed to be replaced by anger and special effects. Not the greatest of combinations when done badly.

The Ring Two

When nervous about emulating the first Ring 2 (if that makes sense) somebody decided the best tactic was simply to avoid the original alltogether and go for a completely different script. It's that sort of arrogance that produces a stinker like this.

Pulse

A sepier filter and a tonne of CGI are not necessarilly the hallmark of a great horror especially if the original was meant to be subtle.

The Haunting

Stars and special effects were the alternative to horror in this blockbuster turkey.

Psycho

This unknown remake thankfully remained unknown. It's made like a TV drama and one to avoid.

The Wicker Man

I'm convinced that Mr Cages look of confusion throughout this film must be him wondering how he ended in such an absolute howler.

Black Christmas

To be fair the director clearly knows this is an poor remake and never raises their ambition to anything other than an average B-movie.

The Omen

Just like the original but without the style, suspense or fear.
