Maximum Overdrive

I watched this after reading the Stephen King short story. It was also his first attempt at directing. Just watch it.

    Director: Stephen King
    Certificate: Certificate: 18
A nightmare world of machines are taking over the Earth. At first the problems seem minor as gas pumps stop pumping fuel, video games flash and beep uncontrollably, and soda machines spit change and soda pop wildly. However, when the carnage begins, a small group of people make a last stand against ..read more »

Alien 3

Very trendy to knock this after it's predecessors. Instead of being the worst of the Alien Trilogy, I think of it as the least best. Better than most of it's type in it's own right, and rounded off the trilogy nicely. Should have kept it as a trilogy. An early David Fincher before Seven.
  • Alien 3 on DVD (1992)
Starring: Sigourney Weaver,  Charles S. Dutton,  Charles Dance
    Director: David Fincher
    Certificate: Certificate: 18

Serenity

A truly underrated film. George Lucas, I hope you saw this, because this was everything the new Star Wars films should have been.

Firefly - The Complete Series

The best sci-fi series NEVER made. Took a bold leap and fell flat on it's face. It's crime? Being too unconventional. A great injustice. Just watch it and you'll see.

The Game

What did David Fincher do after Seven? This little beaut. A film that delivers after every watch. If you watch it once every 2 years you forget enough of what happened to the last time to enjoy it afresh.
  • The Game on DVD (1997)
Starring: Michael Douglas,  Sean Penn,  Deborah Unger
    Director: David Fincher
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
For the follow-up to his dark crime thriller SEVEN, director David Fincher decided to remain in a film noir vein. A Clockwork Orange

My 2nd favourite film. It's a wonder if Kubrick did actually visit the future because this film seems to become more relevant with each passing day. A visceral masterpiece, this film is loved and loathed, particularly by Kubrick himself, who banned it from being shown in the UK, so that his kids wouldn't see it.
  • A Clockwork Orange on DVD (1971)
Starring: Malcolm McDowell,  Patrick Magee,  Michael Bates
    Director: Stanley Kubrick
    Certificate: Certificate: 18
From its opening shot of Malcolm McDowell staring with evil intent directly into the camera (which pulls back to reveal him drinking a glass of milk), Stanley Kubrick's brilliant CLOCKWORK ORANGE announces itself as a completely new kind of viewing experience. Banned in Britain for decades, the ..read more »

Starship Troopers

Maybe one of the greatest satires ever made? Okay, that's a stretch. If you watched this film and enjoyed it as an epic sci-fi adventure, then you didn't get it or were maybe too young. Watch it again...NOW!

Ed Wood

Just a brilliant feelgood film and I would recommend this as a film to see with the ladies. Tim Burton at his best.
  • Ed Wood on DVD (1994)
Starring: Johnny Depp,  Martin Landau,  Sarah Jessica Parker
    Director: Tim Burton
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
Hollywood visionary Tim Burton pays homage to another Hollywood visionary, albeit a less successful one, in this unusual fictionalized biography. Twelve Monkeys

Intelligent sci-fi and Bruce Willis at about the time he started doing some acting. A fantastic story, for true sci-fi fans.

Breakdown

A good little thriller actually. Kurt Russell is believable as the man who loses his wife on a highway and resorts to desperate measures to get her back. Trust me, tis a worthy watch.
