Jesus Of Montreal

Perhaps my favourite film of all. An unknown actor Daniel (Lothaire Bluteau) is asked by the local Church to revive and revitalise a version of the Passion Play that they've presented annually. He really looks into the truth about Jesus' live and the result is a critical and commercial success. However, the religious leaders take exception to his radical account of Christ's life and he finds himself treated as Jesus was by the religious leaders in his time. In fact, much of the film finds the actor's life paralleling that of Jesus, it's very clever and great fun. Filmed in Canadian French with English subtitles, but don't be put off.

Outnumbered - Series 1

This TV series really makes me laugh out loud. It's very understated, no background laughter. They let the child actors improvise which means that it's very believable. Sometimes they don't tell the adult actors what the children are going to say and they have to react to whatever comes. They didn't find the child actors from stage school, in fact one of them just saw the girl at a wedding they attended. My life is very much like this. The DVD includes interviews with the cast, writers and directors. Series two was better, but series one was still good.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

A favourite film. Fantastic songs. Just a great film. I have the DVD, CD and songbook. I've seen the stage version twice, but the film is better. 'Hushabye Mountain' was the song I sung to my first child to calm her as a baby.

Notting Hill

Just an all-round great film, makes me cry every time.

Danny, The Champion Of The World

Looks a little dated, but a really nice story put to film.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory

I much prefer this to the darker old film 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory'. Faithful to the excellent book but with some nice touches at the end.

The Chronicles Of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

A great telling of a great book. Aslan, the Lion, makes you think of God.

The Passion Of The Christ

Really moving indication of how much God thought you were worth to enable you to know him personally.
