It is my personal opinion that this is Spike Lee's greatest film. Spike onces again stays true to his unique film making style, which seems to be overlooked by mainstream Hollywood. Utterly fantastic storytelling and leaves you with food for thought...

A unique insight into 1960's America. A race struggle in the deep south overspills into mainstream America's outrage at the treatment of African Americans. This features outstanding preformances from both Gene Hackmen and William Defoe.

Perhaps overshadowed by Apocalypse Now, however it is my belief that it is far more powerful and in fact is a more accurate depiction of Vietnam. Focuses on one manâs interpretation of the war and may have possibly inspired Steven Spielbergâs filmography in the modern classic, Saving Private Ryan.

In PLATOON, Oliver Stone uses his experience as an infantryman in Vietnam to convey the immediacy of guerrilla warfare: the brutal heat of the jungle, the brushes with such wildlife as snakes and leeches, and, most powerfully, the presence of the unseen enemy. Possibly the greatest performance that Jack Nicholson has ever produced. It gives the watcher an insight into how the institutionalisation can destroy lives. This film is at times uplifting and in some ways comical, however it leaves you with a feeling of despair for a character that you grow to love.

A unique and fascinating black comedy. This film revolves around a man who is severely depressed due to his belief that lady luck is against him. Truly heart warming and at times utterly hysterical, it also allows the watcher to imagine how the story may continue long after the final credits have rolled...

An absolutely fantastic comedy! Includes some of Eddie Murphyâs best work before he was corrupted by the Disney genre of film. Makes you laugh out loud!

Completely mesmerising and follows one man who is forced to join the âfamily businessâ! Encapsulates the era in which it is set and stays true to real life mobsters. Unlike most films of this genre, it does not glorify the lifestyle of mobsters, but portrays how greed will lead to a life of regrets and unhappiness. Although this is only my opinion, I believe that these three films are the greatest of our generation.

An interesting and unique insight into how the youth of today view the multicultural world in which they inhabit. Although it is set in America its themes can be easily incorporated into the opinions of the ill-advised youths who inhabit Great Britain. This film follows the life of a young white man who has a strong hatred of minority groups due to the death of his father, and how his journey teaches him how corrupt these views are. Edward Nortonâs best performance to date...
