Just like Raging Bull- ages with the character, doesn't overact- its a performance you can relate to.

Christopher Walken had the better performance, but there's no arguement that De Niro was unforgettable as the protagonist.THIS IS THIS.

I thought he played it much better than Marlon Brando, he was more realistic, as Brando was more stagy.
