Duel

It all started here for Spielberg, with this simple tale of man vs machine as a homicidal trucker terrorises a lone driver. simple brilliance. The film was intended to be a American cable TV movie, but good word of mouth brought it to the cinema on our shore's. A technicaly brilliant dry run for Jaws.

Sugarland Express

Spielberg's first official big screen movie, it may have not been packing them in, but is still a very enjoyable road movie, and a young Goldie Hawn pleases the eye.

Jaws

The summer Blockbuster started here! Jaws is still as good today as it was in the summer of 1975. it still has the power to shock and fascinate and keep people out of the water. This still could be Spielbergs most perfect movie. One of the best films ever made!

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind

A spellbinding movie. Richard Dreyfuss is perfectly cast as the everyday man in exceptional circumstances. We are not alone!

1941

This is the first time Spielberg came unstuck. A box-office disaster, hated by critics. To be honest there is much to like, and although not Spielbergs finest moment it does offer a massive spectacle, if you liked the comedy of The Blues Brothers, you should enjoy this.

Indiana Jones And The Raiders Of The Lost Ark

Spielberg comes back with a bang, The best of all four Indiana Jones movies, and the greatest adventure movie ever made!

Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom

Not as good as Raiders, but it has some outstanding action, and Ford is the most icon action hero ever. Brilliant escapism!

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade

Have the adventure of your life keeping up with the Jones's! The third adventure has the bonus of having Ford teamed with Connery, and doing what he does best by bashing Nazi's. As good as the first movie right up to the final act with the old Knight guarding the Grail, but apart from that niggle it's text book comic book perfection.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

We had to wait 19 years, but was it worth the wait? A mixed opinion really! I thought it was great, whilst being the weakest of the four movies, it still offered brilliant action, but was let down by a final act and under written characters, also the Red threat never can compare to the Nazi bashing as in the first and third chapters. but to see Ford back in the hat again, and the theme tune still sends goose bumbs down the spine. It may not be perfect but whips the likes of other recent so called adventures into place. Nobody does it better than Doctor Jones!

ET - The Extra-Terrestrial

The little lost alien story is still as touching as back in 1982. Not so keen on the 2002 CGI tampering, but a simple story well told through a childs eyes, and that fantastic John Williams music score is bound to leave a lump in the throat.
