Resident Evil

Okay, so the first one in this list is by no means the worst however this is vastly dissapointing to fans of the video game franchise like myself. Poor adaptation aside, this film still doesn't have a lot going for it besides Milla Jovovich and expansive studio sets.

Alien Vs Predator

This film never would've worked. The story; Predators in a pyramid with a bunch of aliens and humans fighting each other. Very little thought or heart seems to have gone into this as is the feeling I get with much of W.S. Anderson's work. Please try harder Paul. Only worth watching for Lance Henrikson revising his many roles from the alien series.

Resident Evil - Apocalypse

The follow up to W.S. Anderson's Resident Evil is another huge looking production. Written by Anderson and directed by ...someone forgetable. All this does is continue to take someone's original ideas from the video game franchise an pevert it to something souless and uninteresting.

Resident Evil - Extinction

STOP IT ANDERSON! That's enough! Try coming up with your own ideas or use someone else's original script and stop borrowing themes from games your NO GOOD AT IT! Ahem, Resident Evil goes post apocalyptic in this third film and the story gets more rediculous. Another expensive looking film though, someone should give all the money to someone else.

Alone In The Dark

Oh my goodness why. Another game with such cinematic potential turned into nonsense. Don't get me wrong, I do put my love of the games aside for a more objective view and yet I still find very little to be positive about.

The Ring

The first big remake of a succesful Asian horror film and not the start but definately a catalist in the trend of taking something already existing and regurgitating on to US cinema screens with all the soul taken out. For the sake of cinema I urge you to please learn to read subtitles and go rent the original. This is the same film without the atmosphere, without the thoughtful creation and with an unnecessary increase in special effects.
  • The Ring on DVD (2002)
Starring: Naomi Watts,  Martin Henderson,  Brian Cox
    Director: Gore Verbinski

In Gore Verbinski's remake of Hideo Nakata's chilling horror film, a group of teenagers all die suddenly and inexplicably exactly one week after watching a mysterious videotape at a remote cabin in the Pacific Northwest. The Grudge

Shame on you Sam Raimi. The original was only a couple of years ago and while you made it look a little better there wasn't any need for the same film with more cgi. Not a great film at and like all the other remakes it's entirely unnecessary.

The Ring Two

I can barely remember this film. Enough said.

Dark Water

Like the original ...BUT BORING AND UNNECESSARY! I do like Jennifer Connely and Tim Roth but their talents are better off making films that don't already exist. This fails to build up the mother daughter relationship in the same way the original does and I just felt empty in comparrison.

Shutter

Awfully passable and unremarkable. There was no need to remake the original. More vacuous characters in an equally souless film.
