The Prestige

My favorite movie of all time is a period piece, drama, thriller, romance, action/adventure, sci-fi as well as documenting the history of magic. Even it's comedy is perfectly timed. Not a word of the screenplay is wasted and both acting and direction are flawless. Equally if not more enjoyable once you fully grasp the outcome then re-watch the film. BRILLIANT!

The Lives Of Others

Muhe of 'Funny Games' fame, Koch who starred in the excellent 'The Black Book' and Gedeck are peerless in their performances. This fascinating film is perhaps one of the best to be released in 2007.

Dinner Rush

One of the most overlooked and underrated films of all time includes perhaps THE MOST SATISFYING ENDING to any movie I've watched (with the exception of The Prestige and The Usual Suspects).
  • Dinner Rush on DVD (2000)
Starring: Edoardo Ballerini,  Danny Aiello,  Vivian Wu
    Director: Bob Giraldi

Bob Giraldi, award-winning director of commercials and music videos (Michael Jackson's "Beat It"), uses his own restaurant--Gigino's Trattoria--as the starting point for his debut feature, DINNER RUSH. Confidence

Together with 'Ash Wednesday', this is Edward Burns' best performance of his career to date. Edward's a very good director too.
  • Confidence on DVD (2003)
Starring: Edward Burns,  Rachel Weisz,  Andy Garcia
    Director: James Foley
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
Ed Burns gives arguably the best performance of his career in James Foley's fast-moving CONFIDENCE. Foley, who directed David Mamet's GLENGARRY GLEN ROSS, has learned much from his mentor, making a who's-conning-whom film worthy of the master of the genre. Burns plays Jake Vig, the leader of a ..read more »

Blood Diamond

Take Leonarado Di Caprio out of Titanic and what are you left with? Yeah, correct! He never ceases to amaze and with this film continues to build on all that he's acheived to date.

Mississippi Burning

Alan Parker's disturbing depiction of America's deep south is perhaps his finest acheivement to date. Gene Hackman's menacing though powerful portrayal of Agent Rupert Anderson is most certainly his!

Apocalypto

An incredible film and by far Mel Gibson's greatest accomplishment to date.

The Last Seduction

Wonderful script! And a sexy but wholly convincing performance from the delicious Linda Fiorentina. Oh, and then there's the ending too!

Inside Man

Together with Fallen one of the two most ORIGINAL films in which the incredible Mr Washington has starred.
  • Inside Man on DVD (2006)
Starring: Denzel Washington,  Clive Owen,  Jodie Foster
    Director: Spike Lee
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
