Not just the best fantasy movie ever made, but also the best MOVIE ever made, period. Although Return of the King was the best of the trillogy, count them all as taking the number one spot. Without breaking a sweat.

Charming and exciting, The Princess Bride is a parody of all things fantasy, but only slightly. Mostly, it's just brilliant.

Although this was my favourite of the three fantasy movies starring Cap'n Jack, all three were pretty darn good in there own special ways. Funny, action packed, good old swashbuckling fun from the oldschool storytelling ... erm ... school.

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm a nostalgic fool. Or maybe Labrynth is one of the best kid's movies ever! Okay, it's not exactly realistic, but come on! David Bowie as the goblin king, some great songs (yes, I said songs, dammit!) and a fantasy world that Brooks himself would be proud of.

It's Star Wars, but with swords and magic! And not a lazer in sight. Very well made, and pretty exciting in some places. Worth watching for Val Kilmer's character alone.

Although a Pratchett adaptation loses much in conversion from book to film (namely, the cynical hillarity of his personal narrative), Hogfather is still very true to the idea. It's a shame that they chose Hogfather as the first book to be made in the series, as it's one of the weaker ones. Still, very glamerous and very funny in places (especially the places with the Wizards).

Most people hate this cartoon. But in some ways, I feel it had things just right. The Ring Wraiths, for example, are far more frightenning than the ones in the recent movies. Also, I found the merging of film and cartoon to be oddly atmospheric and pretty clever.

In some places it's no better than Conan. However, the amusing main character, decent action scenes and interesting overall plot make this worthy of making the list.
