My Life Without Me

This story stayed with me for ages. Sad and thought-provoking with a stand-out performance from Sarah Polley.

In America

The two sisters are just wonderful - a terrific film.

Cinderella Man

Another moving performance from Russell Crowe. You can't help but become engrossed in Jim Braddock's amazing story.

Garden State

I kind of assumed this was going to be a black comedy, but if it had been I probably wouldn't have liked it quite so much.

Transamerica

Felicity Huffman is wonderful in a film that's inspirational and heartbreaking in equal measure.

Heaven

An absorbing story that's beautiful to watch. Both Blanchett and Ribisi are terrific.

In My Father's Den

I'll admit I initially only watched this for Matthew Macfadyen, but I'm so glad I did. Moody, mysterious and memorable.

Dogville

Wasn't sure this would be my cup of tea, but I loved the simplicity of the set and the intensity of the performances.
