American Beauty

Once in a while a film comes along which is truly special and unique. The concept, acting, script, music, storyline, everything. Deserves all the Oscars and the hype. Kevin Spacey is one of my favourite actors and I'm so glad he did this.
  • American Beauty on DVD (1999)
Starring: Kevin Spacey,  Sam Roberts,  Annette Bening
    Director: Sam Mendes
    Certificate: Certificate: 18
AMERICAN BEAUTY tells the story of Lester Burnham (Kevin Spacey), a suburban father who snaps when he becomes disgusted with his stale, repetitive existence. Burnham lets us know in voice-over from the film's opening that this is the day he dies (using the SUNSET BOULEVARD flashback approach), a ..read more »

Lord Of The Rings, The: The Fellowship Of The Ring

The LOTR films will go down in history and deservedly so. Make sure you watch the extended versions.. the deleted scenes are all fantastic, it's just that they had to be cut due to length.

The Lord Of The Rings - The Two Towers - Extended Version

Fantastic battle scene.

The Lord Of The Rings - The Return Of The King

Incredibly poweful and emotional ending to the trilogy. Bring on The Hobbit!

High Fidelity

I love the book and John Cusack's my favourite actor.. I've seen 31 of his films and this is the best. Great to watch when you have boy/girlfriend trouble. Rob's such a great character and Jack Black is perfectly cast as Barry too.
  • High Fidelity on DVD (2000)
Starring: John Cusack,  Jack Black,  Lisa Bonet
    Director: Stephen Frears
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
Transplanted from England to the not-so-mean streets of Chicago, the screen adaptation of Nick Hornby's cult-classic novel High Fidelity emerges unscathed from its Americanisation, idiosyncrasies intact, thanks to John Cusack's inimitable charm and a nimble, nifty screenplay (co-written by Cusack). ..read more »

Lost In Translation

Wonderfully unique, unconventional love story. Beautiful and realistic, without all the mushy cliched sloppyness of romantic comedies.

Little Shop Of Horrors

My favourite childhood film. A fab musical with a man-eating plant who sings blues.. what more could you want??

Ghostbusters

It just screams the 80s. Such nostalgia for me... it's iconic. Ghostbusters 2 is also good.
  • Ghostbusters on DVD (1984)
Starring: Bill Murray,  Dan Aykroyd,  Sigourney Weaver
    Director: Ivan Reitman
    Certificate: Certificate: PG
When Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murrary) and his Columbia University colleagues (Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson) are kicked out of their prestigious academic posts, they start a private practice as professional ghost-catchers. Although the three parascientists are idle for awhile, their ..read more »

Pirates Of The Caribbean - The Curse Of The Black Pearl

Another trilogy which will be remembered forever. Appeals to all ages. Personally I think Keira and Orlando are overrated actors but it doesn't really matter because Johnny is so amazing as Jack, and the visuals and the script are fantastic.

Pirates Of The Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest

Just as good as the first- Bill Nighy as Davy Jones is brilliant!
