It's slightly too silly and confused to be an absolute classic but it's still one of the better action films of recent years.

Mission Impossible 3

Simon Pegg's cameo is notable because he gets to speak at some length without Cruise interrupting or running off with a determined look on his face. It's like a brief glimpse into a reality where Tom Cruise is just another actor. Weird...

Crackdown

You can jump around like a superhero and rain down explosive destruction from above. Exhilarating leaps between sky-scrapers are common place. Frantic fire-fights break out all over.

It's trashy and confused but there's genius in there somewhere. The more I think about it, the more I liked it.

Pan's Labyrinth

The effects and cinematography are fantastic and the production values are as high as any Hollywood movie. The only real problem is that it's a bit in Spanish. Actually, it's a lot in Spanish. Oh, all right, it's all in Spanish. Don't be put off, though.

An excellent action thriller... as long as you like Mel Gibson.
