Superman

This is still as good as it was way back when. The movie raised the bar on all comic book adaptions to follow. Christopher Reeve was the man of steel. An all time classic

Superman II

A great continuation of the story set up in the original, the film has more on the action, but lacks the original's heart

Superman III

Not a patch on the original two movies, but still fun.

Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

A cut price entry and it shows, an insulting swan song for the late great Christopher Reeve. There is a directors cut on region 1 , but it's just as bad. worth a watch, but that's about it!

Superman Returns

I was disappointed with the film in the cinema, but some how it works better on the smaller screen. Amazing action, and the emotional punch of the original is back. This film deserves a second viewing. Brilliant!

Supergirl

An ill-judged and inempt spin-off to the much loved Christopher Reeves movies. Superman's cousin comes to earth to fight a witch. It's camper than an Erasure concert, that sank at the box-office. Avoid!

Spider-Man

Sam Raimi brings the web slinging wonder to the big screen in style, A great movie that is slightly let down by poor CGI recriation, and a Goblin that has a outfit that belongs with the Power Rangers. This is still one of the best comic book adaptions ever.
  • Spider-Man on DVD (2002)

Based on the classic Marvel Comics series, Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN deftly details the origin of the web-slinging superhero. Spider-Man 3

Too many crooks! Sam Raimi does a valliant job trying to please the fan boys, but with too many bad guys in the film, the moviefails to live up to the second chapter. Venom is waisted, and the film is way too long. But the action is amazing and the sandman CGI is state of the art. It does have it's faults but this is still a great movie.

Batman

Tim Burton captures the gothic feel perfectly. Jack Nicholson is amazing as the Joker. Michael Keaton is great as the caped crusader, and not forgetting Danny Elfmans oustanding music score. But the film is let down by a muddled plot that makes little sense.
  • Batman on DVD (1989)
Starring: Michael Keaton,  Jack Nicholson,  Kim Basinger
    Director: Tim Burton
    Certificate: Certificate: 15
Tim Burton's BATMAN, inspired by Frank Miller's graphic novel THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, is a Gothic, Wagnerian treatment of the Batman mythos that explains the origins of Batman (Michael Keaton) and his nemesis, the maniacal Joker (a ripe Jack Nicholson).Gotham City is a sunless, ominous haven for ..read more »
