Serious Symphonies (60 titles)
A symphony, as it is generally defined today, is a large-scale composition for orchestra, usually in three or four movements. However, this definition only scratches the surface of what is a great musical tradition. The symphony is one of the cornerstones of Western culture which reaches one of it's heights in this musical form which has lasted as a living tradition to the present time. Symphonies are still being composed. Contemporary composers are reinvigorating the form and continuing the tradition much as contemporary novelists have bent the form of the novel in new directions.
