Jean De Florette

Based on Marcel Pagnol's beautiful novel and its sequel-you just have to see it for yourself. Possibly number one on my list. The story is amazing but you have to follow up with Mannon Des Sources for full impact. A provincial tale with a twist and bloody good themetune

The Motorcycle Diaries

If you have no idea who Che Guevara is or if you do but dont know much, or if you are an avid follower of the man and book this is a must see. The wonderful trio of the book, movie and soundtrack work in such tandem. Bernal is the best possible Guevara and captures his youthful vitality and lust for life and his sense of burning justice. Pre guerilla days on the famous journey around south america. A wonderful introduction to the legend at his less familiar but more compelling side...one of my favourite all time movies.

The Dreamers

The twincestous element may create aversion to the story at hand but it is a wonderful homage to the cinematique frnacais and new wave directors. A must watch for cinephiles everywhere. Vicky Cristina Barcelona

I LOVE this movie, very typical of its type particularly in reference to characters. None of the early years style, very modern but still with undertones of his early work. Manhattan

The original, the classic, allens best early work. The opening sequence is so seminal and brilliant the first time you hear it, the first note of Gershwin. Allen has become like a godfather to me showing me the best of every city, the sort of music, art and architecture that is out there, always with a very jewish sense of humour-Keaton & Allen are immense-the first allen you must ever see!
