Films that make you go vroooom!
Hair-raising chases, gadgets you could only dream of and underwater driving - cars can undoubtedly play a crucial role in the films of today. As cars dominate the big screen this summer in remakes of classics such as Dukes of Hazzard and Herbie, LOVEFiLM.com, the UK's leading online DVD rental service, polled over 5,000 of its members to determine what cars they deemed to be the most iconic in film.
LOVEFiLM.com today reveals the top 10 movie motors of all time. The DVDs below, chosen from LOVEFiLM's catalogue of over 35,000 titles, were voted the movies that contained the most memorable and jaw dropping cars in the history of film.
- The Spy Who Loved Me: LOTUS ESPRIT
As if a Lotus Esprit isn't impressive enough, James Bond goes one step further and drives his straight into the sea, exceeding all expectations with some spectacular underwater driving.
- Back to the Future: 1981 DELOREAN

- Blues Brothers: DODGE MONACO 440
This Ex-police car is a key attribute for Jake and Elwood on their mission from God to "get the band back together" to raise money for the orphanage where they grew up. Not only does it jump them over a lifting bridge half-opened but it helped them escape from one of the most-renowned police chases in movie history.
- Grease: 49 MERCURY CUSTOM

Thelma & Louise put this car through its "pacers" by becoming two of America's most wanted fugitives. In their last bid for freedom they deicide to throw themselves off the side of the Grand Canyon and because their love for this car was so strong...they took it with them!
