Changing the face of men’s health:

Movember is an annual, month-long celebration of the moustache, highlighting men’s health issues, specifically prostate cancer. Now in it's third year, Movember is all about having fun and raising money for an extremely important cause. So go on, embrace the Mo!

We're encouraging all men to start Movember (November 1st) with a nicely clean shaven face, then for the rest of the month the aim is to grow and groom facial hair into something resembling a moustache (please see below for some creative inspiration). The message is plain and simple: each man sporting a moustache then becomes a symbol for men’s health and helps to raise money and awareness for Movember’s men’s health partner – The Prostate Cancer Charity. And then at the end of Movember, when there is a whole host of fine looking moustaches on display, there will be a series of Gala Parties to celebrate supporting a great cause.

You can join in on Movember activities by simply visiting their website and signing up to take part in Movember 2009. Whether you're a gal or guy, you can help this great cause out.

The Background:

Movember has continued to grow each year, both in terms of participation numbers and funds raised. In its first year, 30 Mo Bros took part in Movember and last year, across the globe more than 173,000 Mo Bro & Sistas got on board.To date, Movember has raised over £30 million globally for the fight against prostate cancer and depression in men. Plus, more importantly, as a direct result, male awareness of health issues has improved with Movember helping to spread health messages directly to millions of Mo Bros & Sistas around the world.

Going forward, Movember will continue to work towards helping to change established habits and attitudes and make men aware of the risks they face, thereby increasing early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.
