Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew gets updated Clueless-style to high-school America in this engaging romantic comedy from debut director Gil Junger. Kat (Julia Stiles) is the sulky teen who doesn't like anybody. This causes a problem for her hormonally-charged younger sister Bianca (Larisa Oleynik), who has been told by their dad that she can't date until Kat does. Newcomer Heath Ledger (who looks remarkably like Jim Morrison) plays the unfortunate lad picked to introduce Kat to the dating scene, while the rest of the cast is peppered with equally good-looking youngsters, including Third Rock from the Sun's Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Bianca's sweet but nerdy admirer. Smartly paced, fun and funny, this is just as enjoyable for adults as it is for its intended teenage market.

    superb.........

this is a very good teen update based on Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew. it is essentially, a romantic comedy, that more than hits all the right comedy notes as well as the romantic ones. Kat (played by Julia Stiles) hates everybody which causes a slight problem for her gorgeous sister Bianca, when their dad tells her that she can't date until Kat does. in comes loner Patrick Verona (Heath Ledger) who's the unlucky guy who introduces Kat to the dating scene while Cameron Jones (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) tries his luck with Bianca. The young cast are impressive with Ledger and Stiles being on top with their excellent conversations that includes bickering and sweet-talk, whilst Gordon-Levitt surprises as Bianca's sweet but geeky admirer.

    well worth renting out.

    Excellent

This is an absolutely brilliant film I have watched many times and will watch many more times. The teen comedy about 2 teenage sisters, one popular who wants to get out and have fun, and one completely opposite who hates boys and wants to be a normal rocker. But a new boy at school who has the hots for the younger popular sister will change both of their lives.

No brainer - light hearted - good film

This film is really a good no brainer, light hearted film that you watch and it gives you a minute of emotions - and then it is forgotten about again!!

Good for a night where you just want to switch off.

    gd film

I really enjoyed this film thought it was funny but a little predictable!! This is a great film for the family!! However the laugaue & sugestions in some parts would'nt be approprate for younger children but it is mild so not 2 bad!!

Thought the story line was good and was acted well

    Pretty Good!

I wasn't too keen to watch this film which i thought would be the usual teenage slush but it's pretty good.

Although it is a love story in reality, it's pretty well done and certainly launched a career for newcomer Julia Stiles.

Very enjoyable and a great way to enjoy Shakespeare. Based on Taming of the Shrew, but brought right up to date in American High School.
