Sometimes legends last longer than Truth. I paraphrase, but that's more or less the first thing we hear from the narrator - Omar Sharif, no less - as we settle down with our popcorn. It's a read more »
I shall keep it brief, as I have already wasted 2 precious hours of my life on this film at the cinema. But it might not be too late for you, so: AVOID THIS TERRIBLE, AWFUL MOVIE!
From Mr Entertaining Big BadaBoom Blockbuster, Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow) you would at least expect some, even if low brow, fun and enjoyment. Nope, none, not a sausage.
What's wrong with it? It will be quicker to tell you what I did enjoy about it, namely the very tasty ice cream I purchased of the Ben & Jerry's store in the foyer and having my hubby next to me pulling the same faces of disbelief and cringe- it made me feel better.
If at the point where someone asks 'Why is old mother cold?' you don't actually feel like shouting 'I don't care!', then congratulations, you did better than me. And maybe you can come up with a better answer to why she is cold than 'Because she's a clever wise woman who has teleported herself out of this pile of rubbish into somewhere much much better...'.
Dreadful and one of my 5 worst films ever.
10,000 BC, seems to be unable to understand, Prehistory, in its animals or geography, or even timeline. Wolly mammoths in the desert, terror birds, despite that the story is in Africa and terror birds were in South America. I don't think the timelines of the pyramids, sabre-tooth cats and terror birds all matched up. But never mind. The story is pretty simple, and seen in many other films. A women is kidanpped and a village destoyed and her boyfriend (the kind of tribal outcast-how orignal) goes out to get her back. Meeting other tribes, mammoths, sabre-tooths etc on the way. Fighting slavers who are kidnapping people to build the pyriamds. Far-fetched maybe but watchable. While no blockbuster, but worthwhile to rent. Just remenber to turn-off your history part of your brain. Who knew cavemen had dreadlocks?
