A film about legend that's likely to be less than legendary...

    [Highly rated reviewer]

I shall keep it brief, as I have already wasted 2 precious hours of my life on this film at the cinema. But it might not be too late for you, so: AVOID THIS TERRIBLE, AWFUL MOVIE!

From Mr Entertaining Big BadaBoom Blockbuster, Roland Emmerich (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow) you would at least expect some, even if low brow, fun and enjoyment. Nope, none, not a sausage.

What's wrong with it? It will be quicker to tell you what I did enjoy about it, namely the very tasty ice cream I purchased of the Ben & Jerry's store in the foyer and having my hubby next to me pulling the same faces of disbelief and cringe- it made me feel better.

If at the point where someone asks 'Why is old mother cold?' you don't actually feel like shouting 'I don't care!', then congratulations, you did better than me. And maybe you can come up with a better answer to why she is cold than 'Because she's a clever wise woman who has teleported herself out of this pile of rubbish into somewhere much much better...'.

Dreadful and one of my 5 worst films ever.

Demons of many guises are mentioned but they are only demons because those who call them demons are ignorant. Though ignorant they have one thing in common, family and tribe.

The beginning was slow and I wasn't sure where it was going but with a little patience I (you) was entertained with revolution on a grand scale against the oppressor.

  • For children

This is really a film for children.

In that context is is probably OK although I suspect most children will get bored and turn it off.

The producers and directors clearly spent a lot on this film but forgot to pay attention to things like storyline, acting, credibility etc.

  • great film, bad beginning

a perfect example of a great film being entirely let down by the beginning, the begginning is jumpy at best and skips from plot milestone to plot milestone all very quickly and fairly disjointedly...BUT...should you be able to make it past the first 30 minutes or so, that is where the film really gets good, some brilliant special effects and suddenly the characters become relatable and lovable and you really do root for them, towards the end of the film it gets brilliant, some really cool scenes and ideas...not the best film i've seen by a long shot, and not a very original plot, but nonetheless i'd recommend watching this, but only if you can manage to persevere past the first 30 minutes:)

I didn't expect much after reading some of the ratings of others. However after watching the trailer and thinking the trailer looked good I gave it a chance and actually quite enjoyed it. Much better than I expected it to be. Good film with original plot.
