Diet Horror
I was sure i'd like this film i love Cusack, i love Kings books and i love horror!

Wasted talent.
Apart from the occasional shock this film just limped along. I was not at all engaged though I thought Mr. Cusack did a good job with second rate material.

The first half of this film builds suspense and is genuinely creepy as you wait for whatever is in room 1408 !

Disappointing and ultimately tedious.
Starts off well but then kind of wanders off in no particular direction. By the last quarter of the movie I'd lost all interest.
Mike Enslin (John Cusack) gave up writing novels a long time back (though it's surprising how many people have good things to say about the first one). Now he churns out bestsellers for the horror fact-ion market, insider guides to the best haunted houses you can visit across the US. (Does such a book exist? If it doesn't, surely it should.)
