    [Highly rated reviewer]

I was sure i'd like this film i love Cusack, i love Kings books and i love horror!

Trouble was that this is more of a fantasy film than a horror.

Dont get me wrong it started very well and some of the earlier scenes in the hotel room were very unsettling. Cusack was amazing as always but when the horror turned more to fantasy it was hard to take the film seriously.

It turned from a really creepy horror to a 'Tales of the Unexpected' episode. This is probably not a bad thing for some people but i paid my cash for a horror so was very disapointed.

In the end not scary not original, not Kings best, not Cusack's best and a bit too long. Wait for TV

    Bloody WEIRD !

This was the biggest mind-f*ck movie I have EVER witnessed - like watching someone on drugs whilst being pretty doped up yourself !

Give it a go, but keep your sanity !

    Pants.

I am afraid that I did not enjoy this very much. An omnipotent, environment controlling haunted room that can’t put out a fire!? The highlight was a brief appearance by Conor from Primeval.

Remember seeing this advertised and have only just around to watchin it.

Not usually a fan or horror but it looked a good premise and stars both John Cusack and Sam Jackson.

Not half as scary as I had expected though. I'd expected far more 'jump out of your seat' moments and the film only had two or three of them at best.

Worth a rent, but I wouldn't reccomend buying

  • 1408 reasons not to watch it

    Rated - 1.5 stars

I've been trying to think of one good reason to recommend watching this one, but can only think of 1408 reason not too! of course listing all 1408 would take forever and I actually gave up thinking of reasons after 3.

It's not a terrible film, in fact it starts off pretty well but for me it just felt like it lost direction and purpose half way through.

I find it hard to find a good horror these days, the ones that have you on the edge of your seat one moment and hiding behind the sofa the next... well not behind the sofa that's the first place the monsters hide before they get ya, everyone knows that.

So really, watch if you've nothing else to watch, but don't expect much from it.

I rarely get scared by horror films, so was surprised to find myself on the edge of the chair during this film. There are lots of shocks to maintain the horror without the need for gore.

My only complaint would be that it was dragged out a little too long. It would have made a much better film if it had kept to 90 minutes.
