The idea of a law-abiding man putting his neck on the line to deliver a prisoner safely to court has fuelled a lot of good movies over the years. Elmore Leonard is at the... read more »
I've Seen every bruce willis film that he has ever made or had a cameo apperence in and i can say that this is definately not the worst film bruce willis has ever starred in, lets not forget the period after die hard where bruce willis could have ended up as a b or c list celebrity if his career had not been revived by pulp fiction and then following up with twelve monkeys, remeber those terrible films where he tried to shed his die hard image, blind date, striking distance, hudson hawk. anyhow.....my review on the film.
16 Blocks is a wonderful thrill ride with lots of action/suspense and mild comedy. Any Bruce Willis fan would love this like they did Hostage. Willis plays Jack Mosley, a drunk/hungover cop that seems to have lost his touch. He gets all the scrap jobs that no one wants and one of these jobs brings him straight to Mos Def who plays Eddie, a very hard to understand, very talkative guy who has apparently witnessed something and is due to testify at 10 sharp. It's about 2 hours until he has to be at the court house which is 16 blocks away and a hell of a lot of cops standing in the middle. Mosley doesn't entirely know what to believe, the kid or his ex partner of 20 years but he puts his faith into the kid and the thrill ride begins. Hands down the best dirty cop film I've seen in a while.
Very average , in fact below average film .. predictable, fails to really engage you. Anybody who thinks this movie is worth having in their collection or thinks this is really good needs to watch alot more movies! Im a fan of Bruce willis but this was not his best film , on par with hudson hawk movies .. its a backwards step for him in terms of career path i think. Not very well written ,plots boring , the twist is dull. Anyway the main reason this crooked cops n robbers film dosent work is down to Mos Def .. not only is it hard to work out what he is saying ..but the sound of his voice is f**king annoying , sounds like he is auditioning for walt disney. What was he thinking? he was good in hitchhikers guide to the galaxy.. but here we have a poor decision to change voice ,i do think if he had spoke in his normal voice the movie would of been ok..ish. If you are not a fan of bruce Willis then prob not for you. My gf made an interesting comment 10mins in to movie..' that guys voice dosent go with his face'.. she isnt even familiar with Mos def like i am.. so he must be doing sumthn wrong lol ... should of got chris tucker in role instead..or sum other black funny sidekick etc ..at least movie would of had an extra dimension of wisecracks;)
When Bruce Willis walks into a room you know about it. His high-speed hyped Yankee tones precede his appearance. "How y'all doing?" he hollers, and then proceeds to continue a very one-sided conversation with himself."Well, wake up! It's a nice day, we're all gonna go outside in a little while, for cookies and ice cream…" One things for certain, when Willis talks, you listen (even if doesn't quite make sense at times). A pro to the last, the man knows how to work a room. He's impeccably... Read more
